It started in 2014 when Dan Skavhellen and Siewert Anderson decided to arrange a music festival in favor of the Children’s Cancer Foundation Västra.
They set up 10,000 SEK as a goal and it was over 60,000SEK.
The following year, the goal was to double and then it became more than triple.
Since then, the fundraising has continued to increase and the latest festival gave the next half a million.
Rock against Cancer in Hjo has so far sent over one million to the Children’s Cancer Foundation and is thus their biggest contributor.
All artists set up for free and everyone else who works before, during and after the festival does this without a single penny in compensation.
All of Hjo and a little more about this and just over one hundred sponsors secures the economy right from the start.
The latest festivals have drawn an audience of estimated 10,000-15,000 people,
and most of them contribute to the collection by paying a voluntary entrance fee,
shopping in the various stalls or leaving money in the collection boxes.
This year it will be the 6th anniversary and the dates are set to June 29th. Welcome!
